About Us

Our History

How It All Began

The Komera Initiative was founded out of a deep desire to uplift and empower teen mothers who often face stigma, rejection, and limited opportunities. Our journey began when we saw the struggles young mothers endure—many forced to drop out of school, abandoned by their families, and left without hope for the future.

Recognizing this urgent need, we launched the Komera Initiative to provide education, vocational training, counseling, and support for teen mothers, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

The Meaning Behind 'Komera'

"Komera" is a Kinyarwanda word meaning "Be Strong." It represents our core belief that every young mother has the strength to rise above challenges, rewrite her story, and create a better future for herself and her child.

Growth and Impact

What started as a small effort to support a few young mothers has now grown into a community of 89 teen mothers and counting. Through faith, determination, and the generosity of our supporters, we continue to expand our programs, providing education, health awareness, entrepreneurship training, and emotional support.

Looking Ahead

Our vision is to reach even more teen mothers, equip them with the resources they need, and create lasting change in their lives. We believe that when a mother is empowered, an entire generation benefits.
